Tips for Writing, Editing, and Choosing the Perfect Title with Lynn "Elikqitie" Smargis

Hey there, amazing writers and soon-to-be indie authors!

I'm absolutely thrilled you're here with me on this wild, wonderful self-publishing journey. We're going to roll up our sleeves and answer the community’s questions about writing and publishing. Send me your question ahead of time in the chat, or join me live to hear the answer to your question!

Look, I get it, writing isn’t easy, even when you write for a living (like I do).

Whether you're staring at a blank page wondering where to start, or you're drowning in a sea of red-pen corrections, this whole writing thing can feel overwhelming sometimes. But here's the thing – I've been in the trenches as both a ghostwriter and book editor, and I'm here to tell you something important: you've absolutely got this.

Can I let you in on a little secret? Those early drafts? Let them be gloriously messy! Seriously, permit yourself to write badly at first. Grammar can wait – right now, it's all about getting those incredible ideas out of your head and onto the page. And that title you're stressing about? Breathe easy, my friend. You don't need to nail it down until you're deep into editing. Keep a list of possibilities that capture what your book is about.

Here's what I love most about what we're doing together – this isn't me talking at you from some ivory tower. This is us, hanging out and sharing stories together. Whether you're finding me on Substack or dropping by on YouTube, bring your questions, bring your projects, bring your "help, I'm completely lost" moments. That's what I’m here for!

From plotting out your story to demystifying those intimidating ISBNs, I want to be your shortcut to indie author confidence. So pour yourself that perfect cup of coffee (or tea), get cozy, and let's dive into the beautiful chaos of bringing your book to life.

Your story deserves to be shared with the world, and I'm excited to help you make that happen. Ready to get started?
